Like any sports challenge, Final Frontier Patagonia (FFP) has a few essential rules. They're simple, clear, and designed to ensure a safe, fair, and unforgettable experience.
You must always follow the route provided by the organization. If you choose to leave the track at any point, you must resume navigation precisely at the same point of exit. Taking shortcuts or altering the route without returning to that point will result in disqualification. An exception applies if you deem a section of the official route unsafe - in that case, you are allowed to take a detour to avoid the identified danger. Remember, safety always comes first.
The organization will provide each participant with a satellite-based GPS tracking device to monitor their position during the event. It is your responsibility to keep the device charged and functioning correctly, and to return it to the organization upon completing your participation. Failure to return the device or damage caused by negligence may result in forfeiture of the deposit.
You must pass through every mandatory control gate within its specified opening and closing dates and times. Check-ins are only valid during each gate's designated time window. Arrivals before or after will not be accepted.
To confirm your passage, obtain an official stamp from FFP staff at the gate. If you arrive when staff are unavailable, your GPS tracker log will serve as valid proof of passage. Participants are responsible for verifying gate schedules published in the official Route Guide.
FFP is a fully self-supported challenge. You're responsible for meeting all your own needs - food, lodging, logistics, mechanical repairs, and more.
The organization provides no support during the event.
You may also not accept any organized outside assistance (companion vehicles, pre-arranged supply drops, etc.). Private media team cars are not allowed unless coordinated and authorized by the organization.
Informal collaboration and resource-sharing with fellow riders, however, is welcomed and encouraged.
To participate in FFP, you must comply with the required gear list, including:
Failure to meet equipment requirements will result in disqualification.
You must comply at all times with local traffic laws and regulations and fulfill any entry or exit requirements imposed by the authorities of each country you traverse. Participants must carry valid identification and comply with customs and immigration procedures.
Our core principle is respect. You must always treat local communities, wildlife, the environment, fellow riders, and the FFP team with courtesy and consideration.
Littering is strictly prohibited - you're responsible for carrying out all your own waste.
Any behavior that violates this principle will result in immediate disqualification and withdrawal from the event.
As an unsupported challenge, you are responsible for your own lodging. Please prioritize the use of established campsites. Open fires are strictly prohibited due to the high risk of wildfires in the region. Always respect local regulations regarding camping and environmental protection.
Participants may be disqualified from the event for any of the following reasons:
Disqualification decisions by event officials are final and binding and may be enforced immediately by event officials. Serious violations may also result in permanent exclusion from future editions of the event.
You are responsible for your own safety and well-being. This includes being aware of potential hazards, using your safety gear, managing fatigue, and making responsible decisions. FFP does not encourage irresponsible and excessive efforts beyond the healthy limits. Participants are encouraged to rest adequately and monitor hydration and nutrition. Remember that safety always comes first.
You have up to 24 days to complete the full route and earn official FFP finisher status. To be recognized as an FFP official finisher, you must register your arrival at the designated point in Ushuaia city. Finishing after the designated ending date will forfeit your recognition as an official finisher. However, if you prefer, you may also choose any designated control gate as an intermediate finishing point:
If you decide or need to withdraw at any point, please notify the organization via official communication channels immediately. As this is a self-supported event, organizing your own transportation home is your responsibility. Ensure you follow all instructions regarding the return of your GPS tracking device.
As an unsupported event, you are responsible for arranging your own transportation to the start line and for your return home - whether you finish the route or choose to withdraw.
All materials provided by the organization to participants are intended solely for personal use during the event. This includes, but is not limited to, the GPS track and the FFP Route Guide. These materials are the exclusive intellectual property of Final Frontier Patagonia and may not be shared, distributed, or published without prior written authorization. By participating in the event, all riders agree to respect and uphold the copyright and proprietary rights of FFP assets. Unauthorized use, reproduction, or dissemination of these materials may result in legal action.
Don't forget the main reason to be in an adventure like this: you are alive and you can have fun while you explore and learn from our beautiful world. Remember the essence of this adventure: to explore, connect, and enjoy the journey.
Any act deemed to be cheating or significantly compromising the self-supported nature of the event will lead to immediate disqualification. In the event of force majeure (natural disasters, pandemics, social/political unrest), the organization reserves the right to reschedule the event for up to 13 months. Participation fees are non-refundable in these cases. In case of force majeure, the rescheduling policy described in Art. 16 of the Registration Terms shall apply.
Participation in this event is at the rider's own risk. The organization shall not be held liable for any injury, loss, or damage incurred during participation.
These rules may be subject to minor adjustments before the event starts. Participants will be notified of any changes through official channels.
